Indiana Central News VERMILLION COUNTY- A two-vehicle crash involving an unmarked police car and an SUV resulted in non life-threatening injuries this morning in Vermillion County. Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Chuck Murphy, 44, of Clinton, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of neck and back pain. The other driver, Kathleen B. Holvey, 63, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of pain. Emergency crews responded to the crash near the Fourth Street intersection on CR. 350 E around 9:40 a.m. According to ISP Sgt. Joe Watts, Murphy was responding to a serious motor vehicle crash in the northern part of Vermillion County. His 2013 Dodge Charger had emergency lighting and siren activated as he headed northbound. The crash happened just after Holvey's northbound gray 2006 Cadillac Escalade moved to the right while Murphy attempted to pass on the left. "As the ISP vehicle was passing, the Escalade turned left into the side of the police charger, forcing the ISP charger off the west side of the roadway and into a utility pole," Watts explained, noting that no citations were issued. The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Chip McKee. Assisting were ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Master Trooper Matt Ames, Master Trooper Ty Lightle, Sergeants Joe Rutledge and Joe Watts, Clinton Police Department, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office, Vermillion County EMS and Clinton City Fire/Rescue, Comments are closed.
