Indiana Central News VERMILLION COUNTY- A Terre Haute man was arrested for drunk driving after resisting law enforcement in Vermillion County last night. Joseph A. Ingram, 40, was booked into the Vermillion County Jail after being medically cleared at a local hospital. He is charged with: Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an ACE of .15 or greater – with a previous conviction (level 5 felony); habitual traffic violator (level 6 felony); resisting law enforcement – fleeing (A Misd); and resisting law enforcement (A Misd.) Around 9 p.m., the Vermillion County Dispatch Center received reports of a white Ford Taurus driving erratically, northbound on SR 63 in the area of Hazelbluff Road. Sheriff Mike Phelps explained that, while deputies searched for the vehicle, dispatch ran the reported plate number. The vehicle returned Ingram, who was listed as a habitual traffic violator. He was apprehended near the Hardees/ Marathon Station in Clinton. "Several empty alcohol containers were discovered within Ingram’s vehicle and he admitted to have been drinking," Phelps said. Ingram reportedly was non-compliant with commands and began to walk away from Deputy John Hawkins, as he was communicating with him. Other officers arrived to assist and were ultimately able to gain control of Ingram. Ingram’s blood alcohol content was listed as being 0.319 percent. Ingram’s bond is $15,000 with 10 percent allowed, after a mandatory 21- hour hold to sober. Clinton City Police assisted. Comments are closed.
