A man was arrested early this morning after an officer was flagged down on the Terre Haute Police Department parking lot regarding a man firing a gun at 130 Blakely Avenue.
Anthony Lewis,31, was booked into the Vigo County Jail, where he is being held on charges of criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm and criminal confinement. According to a report by Assistant Chief Shawn Keen this morning, officers responded to that location at around 1 a.m. to find the suspect, Lewis, holding a handgun through a window to the residence. Lewis was ordered to drop the gun, and he was taken into custody after complying with the commands. Reportedly, several witnesses inside the residence stated that the suspect had threatened them and prevented them from leaving the house. Lewis also allegedly fired the gun into a wall and paint can. "Witnesses indicated that one of the other males had thrown bleach onto Lewis while he was threatening them with the handgun. One of the males inside the residence had a bruise to his arm, but all parties refused medical treatment,"Keen said. Witnesses also alleged methamphetamine possibly contributed to the suspect's behavior at the time, and officers reportedly found paraphernalia consistent with the use of methamphetamine inside the residence.
