UPDATE: Terre Haute Police Department Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson has reported that the name of the deceased victim in today's fatal crash is identified as Michael Burns, 57, of Terre Haute. The investigation is ongoing.
-- One person is dead and another in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash occured late this morning at a southside intersection. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital where the driver of the vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign was pronounced dead after another driver allegedly crashed into the back of his vehicle, according to Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson. Uniform officers of the Terre Haute Police Department responded to the two-vehicle crash at 25th and Margaret Avenue at about 11 a.m. today. "After arriving on scene it was found that a witness was giving the driver of the stopped vehicle CPR. Witnesses say and suv was sitting southbound at the stop sign when the driver was struck in the rear end by another vehicle. Witnesses also stated the vehicle traveling southbound appeared to be traveling in excess of 80-90 miles an hour," Adamson said this afternoon. The driver of the southbound vehicle is in critical condition at this time.
