Indiana Central News A 77-year-old Illinois man is dead after crashing his recreational vehicle on Interstate 70 in Vigo County this morning. Richard D. Harris, of Herrin, Ill., was ejected through the front windshield of his 2006 RV and pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts. Emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I- 70 near the two - mile marker just after 10:30 a.m. Watts said that investigators believe that a right front tire failure caused this crash. "The RV was eastbound on I-70 when the RV suddenly left the roadway on the south side and struck a guardrail," Watts said. All lanes were expected to be open several hours after the crash, around 5 p.m. The crash was investigated by ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Master Trooper Matt Ames. Assisting were multiple ISP troopers, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Vigo County Coroner’s Office, Sugar Creek Fire/Rescue, Terre Haute Fire Department and Riley Fire/EMS. Comments are closed.
