Indiana Central News Officials say an investigation is underway regarding a local resident allegedly failing to comply with a health inspector in Vigo County. Charges are expected to be filed next week. Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt said it's imperative to have the cooperation of all in order to maintain the safety of the community. He points out that those not cooperating will likely face criminal charges. In fact, failure to comply with a health officer during an investigation of a carrier of a dangerous communicable disease is a crime. Modesitt explained that failure to comply can lead to a Class B misdemeanor charge. He warns that Knowingly providing false information to the Investigator could also be charged as false informing, a Class A misdemeanor or obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony. The Vigo County Health Department investigations into coronavirus infections are ongoing. At a time when everyone is urged to practice social distancing to protect themselves and others against the threat of COVID-19 exposure and to follow government stay-at-home orders, the risks are clear. Modesitt said it's necessary for each of us to do our part. "Our investigators need all of the information to be able to lessen the risk in our community,” he said. Officials suggest being truthful and thorough when providing health officers information. Comments are closed.
