A West Terre Haute man was arrested last night after a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation.
Billy E. Rowley, 51, was booked into the Vigo County Jail just after 7 p.m. and charged with habitual traffic violator - lifetime, a Class 5 felony. Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames said a trooper was patrolling in West Terre Haute when he stopped Rowley, driving a Chevrolet pick-up truck, for failing to wear a seat belt. He explained that further investigation revealed that Rowley was a habitual traffic violator. ![]()

Indiana Central News A West Terre Haute woman was arrested after police say she appeared to be impaired when she pulled into the same gas station they happened to be at early this morning. Jodi L Tryon, 49, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 2 a.m. She is charged with: Possession of methamphetamine, a Class 6 felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class 6 felony; driving while intoxicated-refusal, a Class C misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor/ According to the report, the Indiana State Police troopers watched the woman pull into the lot of the Terre Haute area gas station around 1 a.m. When she began chatting with the cashier, the troopers believed she appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. A subsequent search of the suspect and her pickup truck netted about one gram of methamphetamine and a glass smoking device, ISP Sgt. Matt Ames said, noting that Tryon also failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a chemical test at the scene. . |
