Tyrese D. McCullom, 19, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 12:30 a.m. He is charged with rape and child molesting - level 1 felonies.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Det. Sanford Scott Jr., the girl was 13-years-old at the time of the alleged incident, which occurred last summer. It had been a while since she saw the suspect, when she ran into him outside when he was staying at her next door neighbor's house on the city's north side. After small talk, the suspect reportedly took her fidget spinner toy and told her she would have to come and get it. He went into the home and she followed. During an appointment at Susie's Place Child Advocacy Center,in February, she informed her counselor that McCullum raped her after she attempted to leave. The alleged rape occurred in the basement, where the suspect had a bedroom. He returned the fidget spinner and then took her hands and had her against a wall. After allegedly grabbing her breasts, he allegedly put his hands down her pants. He then removed her pants. He told her to shut up and called her a bitch, according to the documents. He allegedly pushed her into a chair, removed his pants and raped her. During the investigation, detectives spoke with McCullum at Greenwood Manor apartments where he currently resided and was on house arrest for unrelated charges in April. He denied the accusations and denied knowing the victim, although he was listed as her friend on Facebook. Police arrested McCullum on the warrant. He remains held on $75,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed. He is scheduled to appear in Div. 1 Superior Court Aug. 29. |
