Indiana Central News As a Vigo County Sheriff's deputy was assisting a stranded motorist on US 41 this afternoon, a teen driver crashed her pick-up truck just south of him when she swerved to avoid hitting a motorcycle -- injuring two of the vehicle's three occupants. Sandeep K. Sadra, 18,of Terre Haute, reportedly over-corrected as she attempted to avoid striking a motorcyclist in another lane at the railroad crossing north of Harlan Drive , causing her to lose control of the pick-up truck and hit the railroad crossing signal. According to the Vigo County Sheriff's Department press release, Sadra and a front seat passenger suffered minor injuries as a result of the vehicle crash. A third passenger did not report injuries at the scene. Sadra was northbound in a maroon 2012 Toyota Tacoma in the passing lane as she approached the deputy parked on the side of the road with lights activated at about 3:20 p.m.. She was merging into the left lane when she over -corrected and crashed into the signal on the east side of the roadway. "The impact caused the truck to lose its front passenger side tire, travel across both north bound lanes and finally come to rest partially in the roadway," according to the report. The motorcycle was not struck in the incident. Honey Creek Fire Department and Care Ambulance assisted at the scene. |
