![]() By Lucy Perry A Terre Haute teenager is being held in the Vigo County Jail, where he's facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing a man with a knife more than 10 times last week. Jordan Gosnell, 17, of 2004 First Avenue, is charged with level 1 felony attempted murder; level 5 felony battery with a deadly weapon; and five counts of level 6 felony intimidation. Gosnell appeared in Vigo Superior Court Div. 1 Wednesday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail is set at $100,000, no 10 percent allowed. His next scheduled court appearance is for Feb. 17 at 9 a.m. Three other suspects were arrested in connection to the incident, Including: Brandon Bendekovich and Orville Anderson, both 18, who are charged with aggravated battery against the stabbing victim. Chasity Rogers, 39, was arrested for misdemeanor battery after allegedly attacking the victim's wife. The events of the night quickly added up for officers of the Terre Haute Police Department as they tracked down all suspects in what was a violent ordeal on a north side neighborhood. In fact, officers found a blood-covered knife believed to be used as the weapon in the stabbing, hidden underneath a pick-up truck --- it was reportedly located near to where all four suspects were found hiding a short time after the 9-1-1 call was received. In a probable cause affadavit filed in the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office Wednesday, Terre Haute Police Department Officer Bradley Ramsey reports the events of the night of Gosnell's alleged involvement and others who were also arrested and charged. The victim was hospitalized for injuries following being beaten as well as suffering from several stab wounds. According to Ramsey, THPD officers were dispatched to 2215 N. 24th just before 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 to a call regarding a large fight and stabbing. On arrival, they found the victim on the front porch of his North 24th Street home with his wife at his side. The wife described a white male suspect, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. She referred to him as a friend of Anderson. The officers soon found Anderson, Bendekovich and Rogers hiding across the street from Anderson's 22nd and Hendricks Streets address. Officers found Gosnell "hiding in the bed of a pick-up truck" and wearing the described clothing. According to the report, the victim's wife alleges the initial confrontation began when Gosnell and the victim discussed a recent break-in of a neighbor's vehicle. She said that was when Gosnell became angy and began yelling at the victim and then fled. She followed her husband and Gosnell to Hendricks Street. Gosnell reportedly was lying on the ground near a tree, yelling to the victim to help him. She alleges Bendekovich then ran out and attacked her husband. Anderson joined in the fight. "While she was observing this, she saw Jordan Gosnell get up off the ground with his knife in his hand, at which time she saw him stab her husband in the back at least 10 times," the officer states in the document. She was able to intercept and knock Gosnell down, but he quickly got back up on his feet and "stabbed (the victim) several more times somewhere on his back and the right side of his body." Bendekovich allegedly continued beating the victim at that point. When the victim and his wife were able to break away, they returned to their own residence. While rendering first aid on the porch after calling 9-1-1, the wife alleges the group of alleged attackers appeared. Reportedly, a fight with the three males and the victim ensued. The victim's wife alleges, at this point, Bendekovich was seen swinging a long-handled shovel at her husband. Rogers was observed with the attackers at that time in the attacks and allegedly began fighting the victim's wife, hitting her in the head and pulling her hair. All four suspects fled the area just before officers arrived at the residence. Gosnell allegedly appeared under the influence of alcohol, according to the affadavit. Officers report he yelled uncontrollably while in the police car and at police headquarters. He was heard saying, "that's why i stabbed that nigga five times," the affadavit states, adding that Gosnell also allegedly threatened several officers. See related story Comments are closed.
