Indiana Central News WEST TERRE HAUTE- A vehicle struck and injured a bicyclist in West Terre Haute Thursday night. The name of the patient has not been released. Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said the victim was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. He noted the extent of victim's injuries are not known at this time. Emergency crews responded to the accident on US 40 around 8 p.m. Ronald Heyen, of West Terre Haute, and the bicyclist, were both traveling westbound on US 40, at Paris Avenue, when the vehicle reportedly struck the bike from behind. According to the report, the victim was proceeding along US 40, while the driver of the vehicle was attempting to merge to the right, onto Paris Avenue. The driver was not injured in the accident.
