![]() With construction for the planned overpass construction at South 19th Street and Margaret Avenue just around the corner, city engineering representatives discussed the current activity along the route during the Terre Haute Board of Public Works and Safety meeting today. Board members Jon Stinson, Cary Sparks and James Trimble approved three items on today's agenda regarding Margaret Avenue as it moves forward to the section from Canal Road to South 25th Street. Board members Roland Shelton and Bob All were not present at today's meeting. Agenda items the board took action on included approving a change order for the Margaret Avenue project from South Seventh to 14th Streets, where a reportedly minor mistake was made of not installing a mast arm at an intersection during that phase of the project. It will be corrected as soon as the ordered parts come in, around Sept. 23. In the current phase of the project, the board approved an INDOT Railroad/highway coordination for the new bridge construction on Margaret Avenue. Assistant City Engineer Larry Robbins explained that this is approximately 5 percent of the estimated cost of the overpass. Bids for the construction of the anticipated overpass in the high traffic area will go out this week. Work reportedly will begin before the end of this year. The board also approved an inspection agreement with the engineering department and and department of redevelopment regarding the industrial Margaret Avenue phase lll B, near the Clabber Girl plant.
