Indiana Central News A man was arrested this morning after a burglary victim took cover in a bathroom to call 911 to report the home invasion was in progress yesterday. John R. Eldred, 29 , was a booked into the Vigo County Jail at about 10:30 a.m. after deputies spotted the suspect vehicle. He is charged with burglary and a parole warrant. Ultimately, Deputy Steve Meng and Lt. Brent Hall performed a felony traffic stop and took the suspect into custody after observing the suspect westbound on E Springhill Drive. “Several items that were taken from the victims home were located in the vehicle and on the suspect including her wallet. The victims came to the scene and positively identified the suspect,” the VCSO press release states. Also, according to the VCSO press release, the vehicle that Eldred was driving is also believed to be stolen. Additionally, officials believe several items found inside the vehicle and not belong to the victim, were stolen. . According to the report, the woman called 911 at about 7:30 a.m., explaining that she had locked herself in the bathroom with a weapon after the suspect entered her home. She also called another resident of the home, whom appeared just as the the suspect was fleeing the scene. He was able to give a vehicle description and direction of travel to the dispatcher.
