![]() A man was arrested shortly after a 9-1-1 caller reported possible impaired driving near West Terre Haute this afternoon. Jason Bennett, 44, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail. He is charged with operating a vehicle while Intoxicated and other traffic - related violations. Indiana State Police located the white Toyota Corolla southbound on US 150 at US 40 during heavy school-time traffic at around 3:20 p.m. "The vehicle was stopped and the driver displayed classic signs of intoxication. A subsequent breath test at the Vigo County Jail revealed the suspect’s BAC at .21 percent," Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts said, noting the legal limit for intoxication in Indiana is .08 percent. According to Watts, the caller alerted Vigo County Dispatch that the vehicle was operating very erratically and disregarded the railroad crossing gates indicating an approaching train on US 150 just north of Old Paris Road. Bennett was reportedly on his way to pick up a family member at a nearby school, Watts said. Arresting officer was ISP Trooper Nicole Cheeks. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Joe Watts and West Terre Haute Police Officer Sergeant Kris Froschauer. Comments are closed.
