Indiana Central News On a hot and humid morning, a group of enthusiastic children from Camp Rave gathered to break ground for a new splash pad today on Terre Haute's south side. Chances and Services for Youth (CASY) and Terre Haute Parks and Recreation hosted the ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Booker T. Washington Park, located next to the Booker T. Washington Community Center at 1101 S.13th St. The 30 - feet by 40 - feet splash pad is expected to be complete in September and will be free to the public. It will feature several above ground features, including a water cannon and two dump buckets. Brandon Halleck, COO of CASY explained that the initial $50,000 cost of the project is made possible by many generous donors, grants and fundraising efforts in the community-- taking about two years to reach the day of the groundbreaking ceremony. City Council President Karrum Nasser and Councilwoman Martha Crossen attended the event. Comments are closed.
