Indiana Central News Pyrolyx USA announced plans to build a tire recycling plant in Terre Haute earlier this year in the Fort Harrison Business Park . Tonight, the company requested a 10 - year tax abatement during the Terre Haute City Council sunshine meeting. Representing the company, attorney Jeff Lind explained to the council the planned 60,000-square-foot plant will generate 55 full-time, permanent jobs in the community. The cost of construction is estimated at more than S2 million. Information provided to the council states the Pryolyx USA manufacturing process involves the extraction of carbon black, oil and metal from waste rubber. Company representatives note the the area attracted their attention due to the existing plastic manufacturers. According to the Notch Consulting, Inc.website, "Pyrolyx expects to break ground in June and have the project up and running in summer 2018. Tires will be shredded at other locations in Indiana and Illinois and then shipped to Terre Haute by truck or rail. " -- In other business, the council is considering the following for action at next week's regular meeting:
"The salary ordinance needs to reflect that," she said.
---- A special meeting will be held just before next week's regular City Council session, at 5:30 p.m. for presentation by Wabash Valley Riverscape to update the council on their projects. The regular meeting time is set for Tuesday rather than Thursday next week at 6 p.m. in City Hall. Comments are closed.
