Crews respond to crash near Voorhees Street

No serious injuries were reported in a crash involving two SUVs this evening on the city's south side.

Terre Haute Police were investigating the crash just after 7 p.m. in the area of Canal Road and Voorhees Street.  

According to scanner traffic just a few minutes later, Vigo Co. Sheriff's Office deputies responded a short distance away -- to the area of McDaniel and Canal Roads --- where a gold-colored passenger car reportedly crashed through the baricades of the roadway that had recently been closed -off for repairs and then fled the scene. It is unclear at this time if the two crashes are related. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
