![]() After a lengthy battle to convince the public, --- and following repeated attempts at compromise in design to attempt to fit in at Poplar Street and Adams Boulevard --- in the end it wasn't a council vote that defeated the plans. The developer simply gave up the fight. Although the developer seeking rezoning of land across from Deming Park feels his project would have been positive for the community, his attorney announced today that he's formally withdrawn the request. Beau Monde, LLC and developer Emmert Group LLC officially announced cancelation of its proposed luxury apartment complex plans via letter to the Terre Haute City Council by attorney Jeff lewellyn. "We still believe the proposed project would have been a positive development for the City of Terre Haute as a whole, but we are disappointed with the opposition that has met the project," Lewellyn states. The zoning request sought change from current R-1 zoning to R-3 zoning, to allow for apartments in an area that prompted much opposition from existing residents in the neighborhood. -- See related story 'Some protest apt. plans; tie trash fee to other issues' Also see related story, 'Council OKs non-discrimination updates, blocks plan for Beau Monde' See Area Planning story Vigo County Plan Commission: No to Beau Monde apartment complex Comments are closed.
