![]() The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed a 14-week pregnant West Terre Haute woman and the unborn baby this evening. Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing reports that Erin Isles, 30, had to be extricated from her vehicle after the two-vehicle crash on U.S. 150 by New Goshen Fire Department. Ewing states that Isles was initially set to be transported by Lifeline, however was routed to Union Hospital via Trans-Care Paramedics, due to the urgency of her condition. Isles was pronounced deceased at Union Hospital due to her injuries received during the collision. Deputies and Vigo County emergency agencies reportedly responded to the crash at the intersection of U.S. 150 and Bolton Road in western Vigo County at around 6:20 p.m.According to the report, a black 2006 Honda Civic four-door car driven by Isles was traveling westbound on Bolton Road when she pulled out in front of a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler driven by Hannah Volkmann, 16, of Paris, Ill. Volkmann was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released by emergency personnel. The crash was investigated by Deputy David Ewing and the Vigo County Fatal Crash Team. Assisting were VCSO Sergeant Rory Leech and ISP Troopers Brian Thomas and Rondell Shelton, New Goshen Fire/Rescue and Trans-Care Ambulance. Seatbelts were in use by both drivers and airbags and side curtain airbags deployed on the Honda Civic. The roadway was closed for crash investigation and clean-up for approximately three hours.
