UPDATE 8/16/16 -- Officials have ruled the cause of fire as arson.
UPDATE-- American Rental was open for business late Saturday afternoon, Aug. 14 -- Business is as gloomy as the weather today for several businesses impacted by yesterday's fire at Kroger Plaza on Wabash Avenue. The investigation into the fire that closed Dollar Tree, First Wok and American Rental continues today, while the businesses air out today from smoke and water damage sustained in the incident. They all remained closed this afternoon. Investigators were at the scene today sorting through the damage. Officials say Dollar Tree is a complete loss after the fire reportedly started in the back of the building at around 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.
