Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was arrested on two counts of child molestation Saturday evening following a year-long Terre Haute Police Department investigation. Randy J. Dean, 40, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 5:30 p.m. He is charged with level 4 felony child molesting - fondling, touching child under 14. According to the probable cause affidavit, prepared by Detective Sanford Scott, of the Terre Haute Police Department, the alleged incidents occurred between January 2016 and October 2016. The first incident reportedly occurred when the child was lying on the couch with the suspect, her former step-father. She had her back to him as they watched TV, when he allegedly touched her inappropriately as she attempted to stand up. The victim informed investigators that the second incident allegedly occurred when she was on the bed with him watching TV. Her pre-school aged brother and sister were at the foot of the bed and she was positioned next to the suspect, underneath a blanket. She alleges "Randy took her hand and put it in his pants, making her touch it." The suspect then allegedly "put his hand in her pants and "rubbed it,"according to the documents. Dean appeared in Div. 1 Superior Court this morning. Meanwhile, he remains held on $75,000 bond, cash only, with no 10 percent allowed. The Department of Child Services and Susie's Place assisted in the investigation.
