Indiana Central News An Ohio truck driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs after losing control of his semi on Interstate 70 in Vigo County early this morning. William W. Woods, 51, of Dayton, was booked into the Vigo County Jail and charged with: operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance - Class A misdemeanor and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person - a Class C misdemeanor. He suffered injuries from the accident and was transported to a Terre Haute hospital for treatment before being taken to the jail. Emergency crews responded to the semi rollover on I-70 westbound near the one mile marker around 2 a.m. Indiana State Police Sgt. Ames explained that Woods was driving a 2018 Volvo semi tractor-trailer when he left the roadway, driving off the right side of I- 70. "Woods then over-corrected, causing the tractor-trailer to roll onto the driver’s side and into the ditch," Ames said. According to the report, Master Trooper David Petrowski noticed Woods showed signs of impairment and that he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Traffic was reduced down to one lane for about three hours, while crews worked the scene. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department and West Terre Haute Police Department assisted at the scene. - Comments are closed.
