Indiana Central News A Terre Haute woman was arrested for a drunk driving after state troopers say they saw her stumbling around at a local restaurant parking lot just before getting back into her vehicle --- which happened to be parked next to marked police cars last night. Disney Smith, 25, was booked into the Vigo County Jail at about 11 p.m. She is charged with operating while intoxicated, prior - a level 6 felony and driving while suspended - a misdemeanor According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, the troopers could smell alcohol coming from the suspect after she allegedly had been drinking and driving. He noted that, although the restaurant was closed for the night, the suspect attempted to enter the building. Trooper Courtland Woodward approached Smith when she went back to the car. He attempted to conduct tests for impairment. Smith reportedly refused to participate in the field sobriety tests and the certified breath test. Ames explained that Smith’s driving record indicated that she had a prior operating a vehicle while intoxicated conviction in 2016. Smith has since been released from the jail, pending her scheduled court appearance. Comments are closed.
