Failing to use a turn signal on Terre Haute's east side resulted more than a citation for two suspects when an Indiana State Police trooper stopped the vehicle late Thursday night.
The driver, Amber D. Jones, 34, and her passeneger,Travis Jones,30, both of Terre Haute, were booked into the Vigo County Jail just after 1 a.m. yesterday. They each face drug-related charges for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia, false informing and false identity statement. Additionally, both suspects were wanted on warrants. Amber Jones was found to be wanted on Vigo County warrants for ten counts of conversion, along with a small claims warrant and was also charged with no valid license. Travis Jones was found to be wanted on a Vigo County small claims warrant.
According to Sgt. Joe Watts, the suspects initially gave false identification information to Trooper Kyle Hall when he stopped the silver 2007 Saturn passenger car on US 41 at Poplar Street for failure to signal a turn. Watts explained that Trooper Hall noticed indicators of possible criminal activity when he approached the vehicle. "Trooper Ian Portteus and K-9 Czar were nearby and arrived to assist with Czar giving a positive indication for illegal drugs. Under five grams of methamphetamine were located, along with a syringe and assorted paraphernalia," Watts said.
Investigating officer was Trooper Kyle Hall. Assisting were ISP K-9 Handler Trooper Ian Portteus and Czar and Trooper Brad Fyfe.
