Indiana Central News A pedestrian suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a pick-up truck this morning while walking along a busy highway, near the ntersection on the city's south side. Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts explained that Mathew J. Stewart, 35, of Terre Haute, was eastbound in a red 2015 Ford and was exiting a private retail lot eastbound as he attempted a right turn to proceed southbound on US 41, south of Johnson Avenue, just before 10 a.m. "In doing so, the Stewart vehicle struck 47-year-old Lawrence G. Johnson, of Terre Haute, as he was walking northbound along the southbound shoulder area of US 41," Watts said. Johnson was transported to a Terre Haute hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries, abrasions and contusions and later released. Watts noted that Johnson tested positive for alcohol at .03 percent BAC and was not cited. The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Hans Nowak. Assisting were other ISP Troopers, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies, Honey Creek Fire/Rescue, and Riley Fire/Rescue/EMS paramedics. Comments are closed.
