Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY-- Police at the scene of a crash in Sullivan County this afternoon say a Terre Haute man is lucky after a close call with a pole nearly impaling his body. Kenneth T. Bolinger, 30, was transported to a Terre Haute hospital for treatment of a leg injury and head and neck pain after crashing into a business.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts explained a medical issue is believed to have caused the crash, noting that his injuries are non life-threatening. He said that the post struck Bolinger's lower leg as it shot through the cab of the pick-up truck.
According to the report, ISP and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to the single-vehicle crash in Farmersburg, near 11422 N. US 41 around 1:45 p.m. Bolinger's northbound gray 2005 Ford Ranger pickup reportedly suddenly left the roadway, crashing into the J and L Services building on the east side of the street. Investigating officer Senior Trooper Brent Robinson believes that the 10-feet long 4x4 wooden post was just inches from impaling the driver. Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Polly Blackburn, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County EMS, and Thunderbird Fire/Rescue. Comments are closed.
