A Clinton couple escaped a morning crash officials blame on wet pavement with only minor injuries.
Richard E. Sheehy, 79, of Clinton, was northbound on SR 63 in Vigo County when he lost control of his white, 2004 GMC pickup on the wet pavement. Sheehy and his wife, Judith A. Sheehy, 71, reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash and refused treatment at the scene. Indiana State Police and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to the one-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of State Road 63, just north of Bolton Road at about 9:30 a.m. ISP Sgt. Joe Watts explained that Sheehy's vehicle then left the roadway on the eastside and struck several trees before coming to rest over an embankment. "Seatbelts were in use by both and undoubtedly reduced the potential for serious injuries," Watts said. The crash was investigated by ISP Master Trooper Jason Owen. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Joe Watts, Sugar Creek Fire/Rescue, Riley Fire/EMS, and McDonald’s Towing. Comments are closed.
