Indiana Central News A lengthy standoff ended with one man in custody early this morning after he allegedly fired a gun at an east side home. Christopher D. Banton, 35, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 1:40 a.m. He is charged with criminal recklessness,pointing a firearm and possession of meth. Terre Haute Police Department officers responded to the report of a shot fired during an argument on Oakland Avenue, just north of Wabash Avenue, around 10 p.m. Despite orders ftom officers to come out, the suspect reportedly hid the attic of the house. After several hours, the Special Response Team forced their way into the residence and took the man into custody. During the standoff, it was cold,windy and rainy. Several residents in the area opted to stay inside a nearby Subway restaurant after being evacuated from their homes. Comments are closed.
