Man accused of molesting, rape and incest of 2 teen nieces

A local man is facing multiple charges following a Terre Haute Police Department molestation investigation.

Lewis/ Vigo Co. Jail

 Scott A. Lewis, 35, of Terre Haute, was booked into the V​igo County Jail yesterday around noon. He is charged with attempted child molesting - level 1 felony, rape - level 3 felony and two counts of incest- level 4 felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, prepared by Detective Jimmie Richardson, the suspect is the uncle of the two teen female victims, ages 13 and 15. Both girls live with their grandmother.

Lewis had stopped at his mother's house March 27 at 2 a.m. to eat a sandwich. His two sons were staying the night there at the time and he reportedly stuck around to watch his younger son playing a video game, while the other son slept. 

Around 4 a.m., the victims' grandmother said she was awakened by the 15-year-old girl alleging that the suspect "had touched her." The girl alleged that he had "put his hands down her pants on her private area," according to the report.

When the girls' grandmother noticed the younger boy still awake in the living room, she told him to go to bed in the 13-year-old girl's room. When she opened the door, she saw the suspect standing there -- and immediately confronted him about what he was doing. He claimed he was looking for a video game controller. She said he denied allegations and she told him to leave the residence.

Once he left the room, she asked the girl what he was doing and she also alleged " he was trying to touvh me."However,  she explained that she had smacked his hand away.

Police interviewed the family members separately at THPD headquarters on Wabash Avenue.  

​The 15-year -old victim alleged that she was asleep when she was awakened by her Uncle Scott touching her and she smacked him like her sister did. She told detectives that he had felt her breasts under her clothes as well as penetrating her vaginal area with his fingers.

The younger sister said her Uncle Scott had also entered her room where she slept with the door locked. She was awakened by his hand on her thigh, allegedly attempting to reach up her shorts, when she smacked his hand away.

​Ultimately, the suspect's youngest son told detectives he saw his dad put his hand up the 15-year-old girl's shirt as he was playing his videio game. The boy reportedly confirmed the girl was awakened and "hit my dad."
