Indiana Central News UPDATED A juvenile was taken into custody following a high speed chase on Terre Haute's east side late last night. Sgt. Joe Watts , of the Indiana State Police, said the 17-year-old male juvenile from Terre Haute was incarcerated in the Vigo County Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of resisting law enforcement using a vehicle; reckless driving and criminal recklessness with a vehicle. The juvenile was also cited for multiple traffic violations. Indiana State Police attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Silverado pick - up truck, near Third and Ohio Streets after the suspect turned the wrong way onto the one- way street (Ohio Street) just before 11 p.m. According to scanner traffic, the suspect, reaching speeds up to 100 miles-per-hour, continued fleeing eastbound into Deming Park. He was able to drive through grass and then continue to drive eastbound on Wabash Avenue to SR 46 at the Meijer supercenter-- when he then drove into the field behind the store. One police vehicle got stuck in the mud during the pursuit. Ultimately, officers were able to apprehend the suspect near the store and take him into custody, according to scanner traffic. Vigo County Sheriff's Office and West Terre Haute Police assisted in the pursuit. More information will be provided once it becomes available. Comments are closed.
