![]() The Vigo County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early morning shooting in southern Vigo County that landed one man in jail and another in an area hospital. Rick Scarbrough, 54, was arrested and booked into the Vigo County jail on preliminary charges of aggravated battery- a level 3 felony and criminal recklessness- a level 6 felony. Bryce Elson, 30, was treated for the non-life threatening at an area hospital for a gunshot wound and was later released. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to the shooting scene at 16960 S. S.R. 63. When deputies arrived, they found Elson with a single gunshot wound to his leg. According to the report, Scarbrough, and Elson, had been drinking in Scarbrough’s garage. "When Elson grabbed Scarbrough’s gun which Scarbrough did not like because Elson had been drinking so much," the report reads. The two men faught over the weapon . "Eventually Scarbrough got the gun away from Elson and he stood up and shot Elson in the leg. Both men are friends and it is believed that a disagreement possibly lead to the shooting," according to the report. Comments are closed.
