A Terre Haute man is facing drinking and driving charges after losing control of his car, flipping it over in southern Vigo County early this morning.
Gavin A. Geswein was extricated from his 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier by the Honey Creek Fire Department. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the single vehicle crash on Carlisle Street, just south of Harlan Drive, at about 1 a.m. Investigation reveals the car had been traveling south at a high rate of speed and the driver appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. “The vehicle left the right side of the roadway and became airborne traveling over two sets of railroad tracks before it came to rest in an inverted position,” the VCSO report states, adding that charges are pending for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Geswein was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Responding agencies: Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Honey Creek Fire Department and Riley Medic 51. Comments are closed.
