A man was arrested on several charges after a two-hour standoff in northern Vigo County this morning.
Chad P. Herzog, 29, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 10 a.m. and is being held without bond. He is charged with criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, intimidation and invasion of privacy. Officers from multiple agencies ultimately forced entry into the home at about 9 a.m,, following unsuccessful efforts to communicate with Herzog. According to Sheriff John Plasse, the suspect had barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to speak with officers. Deputies with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7755 Red Cherry St. on a domestic violence call just after 7 a.m. The female victim met deputies when they arrived on scene. Investigation revealed Herzog not only had an order against the woman, but he also was wanted on a warrant for probation violation out of Owen County and a failure to appear warrant out of Johnson County. Indiana State Police, Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana Conservation Officers assisted The Vigo Co. Sheriff's Office at the scene. Comments are closed.
