Indiana Central News Indiana State Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly became randomly combative last month with a another man at the Warren Village apartment complex, lcated on North 25th Street . The other man ultimately responded by firing a shot from a handgun in self defense in the attack. Charles E. Dishon, 32, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail just after being released from an Indianapolis area hospital at about 6:30 p.m. tonight. Dishon is charged with criminal confinement (level 6 felony); residential entry (level 6 felony); battery (three counts, misdemeanor); and resisting law enforcement (misdemeanor). The suspect initially was transported to a Terre Haute area hospital and then was airlifted to Methodist Hospital a short time later, where he has been undergoing treatment for gunshot -related injuries since the Feb. 22 shooting. According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts today, Investigation revealed that Dishon alleged first attacked Steven R. Hall, 60, of Terre Haute, as Hall was visiting his father on the third floor of Warren Village Housing. There reportedly was no motive for the attack. "After the initial encounter in the third floor hallway, Hall made his way to his father’s apartment, where moments later, Dishon allegedly forced his way into the apartment, failed to leave when asked, then again physically attacked Steven Hall," Watts said, adding, "Hall then produced a .380 caliber handgun and discharged a round into Charles Dishon striking him in the facial area. The two men did not know each other prior to this incident."
Terre Haute Police Department officers initially responded to the scene, but turned the investigation over to the ISP , due to a conflict of interest in that the man firing the weapon is a relative of a department member.
The lead investigator was ISP Detective Michael Featherling. Assisting were other ISP Putnamville Detectives, ISP Crime Scene Investigators, Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office, Terre Haute Police Department and the Terre Haute Fire Department. Comments are closed.
