UPDATE- Cameron Aue, of Paris, Ill., was booked into the Vigo County Jail at 5:45 a.m. He is charged with resisting law enforcement, dealing in meth, driving while suspended, criminal recklessness, interfering with a law enforcement animal, operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.
-- By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A man is in custody after leading police on a high speed chase into western Vigo County early this morning. According to scanner traffic, Cameron J. Aue, 33, was apprehended in a cornfield in New Goshen after crashing a car into a ditch and then fleeing on foot. Vigo County Sheriff's deputies assisted Terre Haute Police Department officers with a K-9 after using stop sticks during the pursuit, which reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. The chase began around 2 a.m. when a Terre Haute Police Department officer attempted to pull the suspect over for an alleged headlight violation at Third and Cherry Streets. He fled the scene in a red Ford Mustang, westbound into West Terre Haute, continuing on US 150 into New Goshen. Ultimately, all four tires were deflated and the suspect eventually lost control of the vehicle , crashing into a ditch before fleeing on foot. Once he was apprehended, he requested an ambulance due to injuries suffered in the crash, as well as reportedly being bitten by the K-9 during the foot chase. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being taken to the jail. Aue's drivers license had previously been revoked in Illinois. Comments are closed.
