Indiana Central News An Illinois man suffered minor injuries when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash with a car this evening in northwestern Vigo County. Daniel R. Wakefield, 61, of Tuscola, Ill. was treated at the scene after the crash with the vehicle just after 5 p.m. According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts, investigation revealed a white 1995 Lincoln, driven by Valli Mitchell, 62, of Paris, Ill., was southbound on N. Range Line Place and attempted a left turn to proceed eastbound on US 150. As a result, she drove into the path of the westbound maroon 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Wakefield. "He was examined at the scene by fire and EMS units and released upon his request. Wakefield will seek his own medical services," Watts said, noting that the protective clothing and helmet he was wearing helped keep injuries in the crash from being more severe. Watts suggests that drivers watch out for motorcycles during the current unseasonably warm weather in the area . "Motorists are encouraged to be vigilant for motorcycles and look twice before entering roadways and intersections," he said. The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Brad Fyfe. Assisting were ISP Trooper Nicole Cheeks, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Kris Morris, New Goshen Fire/Rescue, and Riley Fire/Rescue/EMS Paramedics. Comments are closed.
