A Terre Haute woman is facing multiple charges after police allege she shot a man outside his residence on the city's north side late Friday night.

Lexus Dunbar,22, was booked into the Vigo Co. Jail around 2 a.m Saturday. She is charged with battery, battery committed with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery.

Multiple police agencies responded to the shooting in the 1400 block of Dahlen Avenue around 11 p.m., with one victim reportedly shot in the back. The suspect had fled the scene and was taken into custody a short time later, following a traffic stop at N. Seventh Street and Maple Avenue. 

Meanwhile, the victim, a friend of the suspect, Jalen Polk, suffered a gunshot wound to his lower back and was rushed to surgery at a local hospital. 

According to the probable cause affidavit, filed by Det. Erick Atterson, of the Terre Haute Police Department, Dunbar told officers she had gone to the trunk of her car and retrieved a handgun , loaded it and fired directly at the victim after they had a fight.  She then reportedly drove away.
 
A handgun was found inside Dunbar's car at the time of the traffic stop. A 2-year-old child was also inside the car -- and, it is noted the toddler had been with her mother at the time of the shooting incident, as well.

Dunbar reportedly told investigators, during questioning at the police station, that she and Polk had gone to the liquor store prior to the shooting. They began to argue about music on the radio, after she had just purchased a bottle of vodka and a bottle of whiskey. The victim told her to take him home. He allegedly got out of the car on Dahlen Avenue, grabbing the alcohol and the suspect's cell phone. She got out of the car to confront him about taking her things. They physically fought briefly over possession of the items.

She stated that Polk started to run to the house with her belongings. She allegedly confessed to shooting him with the gun at that time.
