Indiana Central News A Missouri woman was killed tonight after she crashed into the rear of a semi truck on Interstate 70 in Vigo County. Kaylie J. Real, 25, of Miller, Mo., was westbound near the 10 mile marker at about 5 p.m in a passenger car. She was transported to a Terre Haute hospital for injuries suffered in the crash and died a short time later, according to Indiana State Police Trooper B.J. Patterson. Patterson explained that Real's 4-year-old son was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the semi was not injured. Real's gray 2009 Chevrolet Malibu reportedly failed to stop for unknown reasons, striking the rear of a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck near the eastside of Terre Haute. Both lanes of traffic were closed for several hours while crews worked the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time, however Patterson noted alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident. The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Justin Bell. Assisting officers were ISP Master Trooper Matt Ames, Sgt. Jim Cody, Trooper Tim Radar, Sgt. Joe Rutledge, Terre Haute Police Department and Terre Haute Fire Department. Comments are closed.
