Indiana Central News A truck driver was arrested on a theft warrant near the state line after a routine inspection of a tractor-trailer this morning. Garreth W. Crumpton, 26, of Long Island, New York,was booked into the Vigo County Jail felony warrant for larceny from the state of Colorado.as well as a local charge of false informing just before noon. ![]()
Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Gerald Stump performed the inspection of the tractor-trailer at the Interstate 70 scale facility around 10:30 a.m..
Ultimately, Crumpton's semi ---- which was hauling refrigerated items --- was placed out of service for tire violations after the driver wouldn't hand the officer his license. "The driver only gave a verbal reply and provided no actual driver’s license documentation," Watts said, explaining that a routine computer check on the man revealed he was wanted on the warrant -- after troopers resorted to calling the California -based trucking company where the suspect is employed for information.
