By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News Police say a Terre Haute truck driver became distracted as he poured a drink into a cup and consequently rear -ended another semi on Interstate 70 in Vigo County this morning. Zaryonla T. Cheyee, 32, of South Bend, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries suffered in the accident. Emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle crash at the 11 mile marker around 10 a.m. Sgt. Matt Ames, of the Indiana State Police, said Brandon S. McCullough, 31, of Terre Haute, was cited for speed too fast to avoid collision. McCullough didn't see the other semi. According to the report, McCullough was driving a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer westbound in the driving lane, when he failed to recognize a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling in the same lane, driven by Cheyee. The Vigo County Sheriff's Department, Riley Fire Department and Indiana Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. Comments are closed.
