By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News A traffic stop last week on Interstate 70 in Vigo County yielded a large amount of drugs and netted two arrests. Bishop Higgins, 54, of Terre Haute, and Dezierae Smith, 44, of Apple Valley, Calif., were arrested at the scene and transported to the Vigo County Jail. Higgins was charged with dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a handgun by a convicted violent felon. Smith was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and possession of paraphernailia. Officers reportedly located nearly 19 pounds of methamphetamine inside the vehicle,as well as a pistol. The methamphetamine seized has a street value of around $250,000. According to the Terre Haute Police Department, detectives with the Vigo County Drug Task Force and members of the Drug Enforcement Administration stopped a vehicle at the 7mm around 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16. The passenger allegedly tossed out a drug - related item during the traffic stop. A requested K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics a short time later. Police say the intercepted narcotics were headed to Terre Haute. Comments are closed.
