James, 43, of Cannelton, was transported to the Vigo County Jail just after midnight, where he is held on multiple charges, inluding: Resisting law enforcement, confinement, reckless driving and driving while suspended. He was also cited for other traffic violations. According to the report, officers learned the fleeing suspect allegedly had had a female passenger he refused to let exit the vehicle after Indiana State Police Trooper Kyle Hall clocked the mini-van southbound near North Third and Locust Streets traveling at 58 miles-per-hour in a 30mph zone at 4:30 a.m. Indiana State Police Sgt. After leading officers on a multi-county chase that spanned several hours, the pursuit was called off for the night. “Other Putnamville District troopers attempted to intervene, but the suspect driver would not stop and continued southbound on US 41 through Vigo and Sullivan counties reaching speeds of 100mph,” Watts said, adding that the suspect was ultimately found at a Vincennes motel following assistance from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Cannelton Police Department, and the Vincennes Police Department. Evansville District troopers Corey Risley and Casey Boeckman, and Vincennes Police Officer Michael Caswell took the suspect into custody at a motel on Hart Street in Vincennes late last night without incident and seized the vehicle.
