Indiana Central News A homeless Terre Haute man wanted on a warrant now faces drug charges after police say they found meth affixed underneath his car just after he was transported to jail last week. Travis J. Fagg, 35, was booked into the Vigo County Jail Friday around 4 p.m.He is charged with possession of meth and manufacture/ dealing meth. According to the probable cause affidavit, Terre Haute Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in an alley. The suspect was wanted on an active warrant for domestic battery, criminal confinement, rape, robbery, burglary of a dwelling, residential entry, intimidation, interference in reporting of a crime and invasion of privacy. Fagg was located in the alley between N.16th and N.17th Streets, near Sycamore Street, driving a white Jaguar. He was taken into custody without incident. Initially, he was merely cited for driving while suspended, in addition to the warrant -- until the tow truck arrived. Once the towing company loaded the vehicle onto the rollback truck, a glasses case reportedly was discovered magnetized underneath the suspect’s vehicle. Further investigation revealed the case contained meth instead of eye wear. “The glasses case contained a plastic bag that had a crystal-like substance in it,”according to the report. It tested positive for meth. Court documents show the suspect’s previous case was on hold due to the coronavirus pandememic. A March 24 update states: The Court finds the defendant does not qualify to be placed in pretrial in-home detention in lieu of work release due to the coronavirus pandemic. The defendant is therefore ordered to be transported to the Vigo County Jail to be held until such time he may be transferred back to the Vigo County Community Correction Work Release Center. Bond is set in the amount of $50,000 with 10 percent cash not acceptable. Fagg's initial hearing is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Comments are closed.
