Indiana Central News A juvenile was arrested after allegedly battering a local man outside of gas station on Terre Haute's south side over the weekend. The 33-year-old victim was struck in the head with a baseball bat while attempting to break up a fight involving the juvenile protester and another man, according to police. Emergency crews were dispatched to a large fight outside of the gas station at S.Third and Hulman Streets Sunday around 1:15 a.m. Witnesses said as the victim was still assisting the older man to get back up on to his feet from the altercation, when the juvenile reportedly went to his vehicle and retrieved a baseball bat. He allegedly struck the victim in the side of his head and face, while his back was turned. George Floyd protests had been ongoing throughout the day and reportedly had been mostly peaceful demonstrations around the city. The participants were protesting police brutality after a black Minnesota man recently died while in police custody. Outrage over the death has erupted in cities across the nation. Meanwhile, the officer involved in that incident has been charged with murder. The local victim was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of serious head trauma. The suspect is currently held in the juvenile center. The Terre Haute Police Department investigation is ongoing. Comments are closed.
