Indiana Central News A homicide suspect out on home detention was taken into custody after an order by the judge to revoke bond--- following a Community Corrections report alleging he tested positive for THC, a chemical found in marijuana. Nathan G. Derickson, 19, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail at 12:30 a.m. on a warrant following initial charges for reckless homicide, maintaining a common nuisance, criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Derickson is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Garrett Sands during a party held at his parents' home in late March. According to court documents, the suspect was playing with a gun and pointed it at the victim when a shot fired, striking Sands in the head/ After appearing before Judge Michael Rader in Vigo Superior Court Div. 5 today, he posted $25,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed and was released from the jail around 1:30 p.m. The jury trial is scheduled for Oct. 9. -- See related story: http://www.indianacentralnews.com/terre-haute-news/17-year-old-boy-shot-and-killed-at-underage-drinking-party Comments are closed.
