Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames said the pursuit crossed about 20 miles and ultimatedly ended at N. Seventh Street and Maple Avenue, when the suspect's vehicle broke down. According to the report, Trooper Ian Portteus was patrolling near Spencer Park around 9:30 p.m. when he observed a white Chevrolet passenger car speeding on N. Ninth Street and disregarding a stop sign. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect accelerated, fleeing from Portteus and contininuing to speed through stop signs in the area. He stayed around the Twelve Points neighborhood for the most part. He went back and forth from Ninth Street to Seventh Street a couple times. After traveling up to Haythorne Avenue, back around to Maple Avenue and then west towards Third Street and then eastbound towards Ninth Street again, other officers and other agencies had joined in the chase. Officers were prepared to use spike strips in the event he might have attempted to take off on US 41, according to last night's scanner traffic. Once the car stalled, officers ordered the suspect to exit; However, Bones refused to comply. Ames explained that a deputy of the Vigo County Sheriff'’s Department subsequently used a taser on Bones. adding that Bones was taken into custody without further incident. Bones reportedly submitted to a chemical test and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital before being taken to the jail. Troopers Rondell Shelton, Courtland Woodruff, Brad Fyfe and David Cox, Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, Terre Haute City Police Department and Terre Haute Fire Department Medics assisted at the scene.
