See original story below: ![]() 5/19/20 By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News The suspect in an early morning stabbing says she went into a jealous rage when she attacked a friend just after finding her boyfriend in bed with her Tuesday morning, according to court documents. Amanda J. Baker, 24, was booked into the Vigo County Jail around 7 a.m. She is charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder. She reportedly was staying with the victim at a residence on Fruitridge Avenue when the incident occurred, around 4:15 a.m. According to the probable cause affidavit filed Detective D. Minnick, of the Terre Haute Police Department, Baker was very emotional when she was interviewed by detectives in the hospital. She had reportedly suffered hand injuries in the altercation and was treated before being released to the jail. Detectives spoke with the victim in the hospital, as well. She suffered several severe lacerations to her face, neck and shoulders. "Kaitlyn [the victim] says she thinks Amanda was trying to kill her," Minnick states. Meanwhile, Baker reportedly expressed remorse for her actions. She stated she had gone into a rage when she opened a bedroom door and found Kaitlyn in the intimate position with Amanda's boyfriend. She simply said she "snapped." The suspect and victim had recently met as patients in a local hospital and continued their friendship over the phone. Eventually, Baker was invited to stay with the victim at her home. According to the report, the two friends were having a good time prior to the stabbing. They had been drinking and smoking weed, they both told officers. All was well, until Amanda's boyfriend came over. In fact, the victim and Amanda's boyfriend got along a little too well, according to the documents. "Amanda said she went in Kaitlyn's room and caught her sitting on top of Amanda's man, so she attacked Kaitlyn," Minnick explains. She allegedly used a large knife found in the kitchen to stab the woman. Police were later given consent to to search the home. They found blood "and items in disarray in the front room of the residence, right inside the front door," according to the court documents. Comments are closed.
