Indiana Central News A local man is in jail following a Terre Haute Police Department rape investigation. James A. Fields, 30, of Terre Haute, was booked into the Vigo County Jail yesterday around 11:15 a.m. He is charged with Level 3 felony rape. According to the probable cause affidavit, filed by THPD Officer Devon Huebner, the victim reported the incident in late May. She alleges that Fields raped her in April. The victim had reportedly told him “no” repeatedly, but he allegedly got on top of her, removing her panties, and had intercourse with her anyway. The victim adamantly alleges the sex was not consentual. Police reviewed text messages sent via Facebook Messenger following the alleged rape, in which Fields expresses remorse over the incident: “Did I just do what I think I did?” Followed by, “I did. o god.” And finally , a short time later, asking, “ Am I going to jail?” The night of the incident, the woman reportedly had invited Fields over, but he repeatedly stated he would not be coming to her residence. After going to bed for the night, the woman alleges she was awakened by the suspect. She claims he had his clothes off and joined her on the bed. They talked for some time and he began to kiss her against her wishes, according to the documents. Fields admitted to police later, during an interview, that he had groped her and she was saying "no." He reportedly admitted that he then rolled on top of her and inserted his penis into her -- and realizing she was not into it , he stopped. He admitted she had said “no” a few times. Fileds is scheduled to appear in DIv. 3 Circuit Court June 18. He remains held on $50,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed. Comments are closed.
