Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was arrested last week on warrant following a Terre Haute Police Department rape investigation. Jay C. Irvin, 28, was booked into the Vigo County Jail Thursday around 4:30 p.m. He is charged with two counts of level 3 felony rape. According to the probable cause affidavit, filed by Detective Kenneth Murphy, a woman reported being physically taken advantage of in October, just after discovering several graphic photos and videos stored in a folder in the suspect’s email account , “that show him raping her while she was under the effects of [prescribed] medications that make her pass out.” The victim denies ever consenting to the sexual activity. She claimed to have confronted the suspect about the contents in the folder, and said he did not deny that he took advantage of her --- and that he "thought it was funny." He was the only one laughing. The victim alleges the sexual assault happened multiple times, as depicted on Irivn’s phone. In fact, she later learned --- after discovering the file and by viewing the images in the folder, titled “Freaky Stuff,” that she had been violated vaginally and anally, as she was passed out on the bed. Over the span of several months, she noted she had awakened to unexplained pain and discomfort she now believes was from the non-consensual sex. She also experienced other unusual symptoms, including sickness and bleeding during that time, according to the court documents. Investigators reviewed the evidence and spoke with the suspect via telephone. The suspect failed to report to THPD headquarters for a scheduled appointment to give a recorded statement on the case at THPD Headquarters last month, according to the documents. Irvin remains held in the jail on $35,000 bond, no 10 percent allowed. He scheduled to appear in Div. 6 Superior Court Wednesday. Comments are closed.
