Indiana Central News A Terre Haute man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop for speeding today. Christian E. Targett, 22, was booked into the Vigo County Jail. He is charged with: Possession of a schedule IV controlled substance -level 6 felony; maintaining a common nuisance - level 6 felony; and driving while suspended, prior - class A misdemeanor. Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames explained that Trooper Eric Smith observed criminal indicators after stopping the vehicle and noticed a small plastic bag containing blue pills sitting in the front passenger seat. A subsequent vehicle search turned up 24 blue, oval-shaped pills with XANAX inscribed on the back. Targett did not have a valid prescription to possess the controlled substance. The trooper reportedly observed the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu traveling above the posted speed limit in the north bound lanes of US 41 near 56th Drive in the southern part of the county around 11:30 a.m. The vehicle was traveling 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. The vehicle was ultimately stopped near US 41 and Seventh Street. Comments are closed.
